I apologize that this post is coming to you so late. My life has been utter chaos this past month (more on that later this week). For now, I'd like to tell you about a little fete...
I had the pleasure of hosting this year's Oscars party with Christine of Life With a Side of Coffee and Jess of The Petite Diaries. I couldn't have done it without them. They handled my sudden life shift with nothing less than grace, understanding and kindness. Jess and Christine deserve so much credit for the success of this party!
The party room was gorgeous. We enjoyed dinner by the fire while we viewed the Oscars. Our table included a gold sequin runner, crystal appointments, plenty of candlelight, and flower arrangements topped with rouge peacock feathers. Christine's Aunt shared her lovely home so that we could host this event and I cannot thank her enough for her generous hospitality.
The menus were red card stock with gold lettering. And let me tell you, the food was perfect. Christine and I split the menu and alternated courses, which was the perfect setup. We were both relaxed and able to leisurely prepare and serve the courses without missing the event. Our menu was as follows:
Signature Cocktail: The Sparkling Rose by Milagro Tequila
Greeter Appetizer: Flavored Popcorn - Rosemary, Brown Beutter and Lemon; Parmesan and Garlic
1st Course: Baked Brie with Apples in Puff Pastry
2nd Course: Potato Leek Soup
3rd Course: Maggiano's House Salad
Main Course: Spaghetti Bolognese
Dessert: Caramelized Apple Tarte Fine
We drank a fabulous cocktail sponsored by Milagro Tequila: The Sparkling Rose. It had never occurred to me to mix tequila and sparkling wine, but it was fantastic! Citrusy and smooth, this cocktail would make the perfect addition to your next party. Here's the recipe:
The Sparkling Rose
1.5 parts Milagro Silver
.25 parts Simple Syrup
.5 parts Fresh Lemon Juice (about 1 lemon)
.75 parts Watermelon Juice (I found this next to the orange juice)
2 parts Sparkling Rose Wine
Garnish: 1 Lemon Twist
Combine all ingredients except Sparkling Wine in a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake, strain and pour into a Champagne flute. Add Sparkling Wine and lemon twist. Serve and enjoy!
There were many goodies of note, but the best thing in the bag, by far, was the $10 Gift Card and golden shimmer eye shadow from my favorite spa, Beautify Spa & Make-up in Tinley Park.
They're the best spa around and their makeup is a steal! The entire Beautify Spa Make-up line is designed by the owner, Linda Camacho, and it is truly the most beautiful line of cosmetics I've had the pleasure of owning. The eye shadow included in the swag bags is a favorite of mine. Not only does it coordinate with the Oscars theme, but it is my go-to evening shadow. Press a little onto your lids and you have just the right amount of shimmer to make any night special. It is subtle and has that perfect je ne sais quoi quality - no childish glitter here. As a life long fan of matte, this shadow stole my heart at first wear. And don't get me started on my favorite lip gloss!
If you are interested in ordering the golden shimmer eye shadow or any of the products from Beautify Spa Make-up, they do not sell online, but you can contact them to order by phone 708-288-4444 or email an order to linda@beautifyspamakeup. If you're local, I definitely recommend stopping by for a makeup consultation or spa service.
Thank you so much to all of our guests and lovely sponsors who made this party so special. I hope you enjoyed the Oscars as much as we did.
Until next time,
