We chose to go to the Silver Oak location in Geyserville because we guessed it would be less hectic than their Napa Valley tasting room, and we were right. The Geyserville location is quiet, stately, and relaxed. They spent a lot of time giving us background on their wines and we enjoyed sharing their passion for Cabernet Sauvignon.
We enjoyed many different vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon at Silver Oaks, but my favorites were the 2006s. It was a large harvest for Silver Oak, and they are the third winery in Napa to tell me that the 2006 vintage is drinking very well right now.
A hidden gem across from their bar is the Reserve Tasting Room. They have every vintage of Cabernet they've ever made from 1973 onward stored in that room. The staff at Silver Oak was eager to answer our questions and reflect on the history of the winery with us.
I encourage you to stop into Silver Oak's Geyserville tasting room for a drink when you're in the area. Same great wine with less crowds.
