Magnolia Bakery Chicago

I was generously invited to attend a tasting of Magnolia Bakery's Fall menu items last week. Tucked inside Block 37 on State Street, this is the perfect spot for a city slicker to go on a cupcake date or pick up a pie to bring to that dinner party you're heading to. Their pastries are as delicious as they are beautiful and Magnolia Bakery has some great sweets and savories featured this Fall.

Here's what's new for November:

Cupcake of the month: Snickerdoodle {a cinnamon cake topped with meringue icing and a light sprinkling of cinnamon sugar}

New Items:

o   Pumpkin Praline Pie: A new twist to Magnolia’s classic pumpkin pie in a flaky crust, topped with a generous portion of brown sugar pecan praline.

o   Caramel Apple Pie: New to Magnolia Bakery, this is a double-crusted lattice pie with sweet, gooey caramel and the season’s ripest apples.

o   Cranberry-Pear Crumble: Winner of Magnolia Bakery’s employee pie baking contest, this sweet treat has a cranberry and pear filling with a pecan crumble topping, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

My favorites were the Apple Pie, Cranberry & Pear Bellini, and the Harvest Apple Cupcake. If you're in the area, Magnolia Bakery is definitely the best place to get a tasty, fresh-baked dessert. Stop in before these Fall goodies are gone!
