Harvest was an easy 25 minute drive from my Oakbrook office. I loved that I could get there in half the time it would take me to meet a friend in the city.
When you first enter the space, you are greeted by a spacious lounge and a friendly bartender. He immediately offered me a drink, which I accepted, and he poured me a lovely glass of their house red wine. I enjoyed sitting in the lounge for a while, as I was early. It was roomy, comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly.
When Christine arrived, we headed into the restaurant for dinner.
The first thing that struck me about this Harvest Beer Pairing Dinner was the value. Getting 4 courses with beer pairings for $35.00 per person is a steal! Then I actually tried the food and I was grinning from ear to ear. I was really impressed. I lived in the Chicago for almost a decade and I was spoiled by some of the best chefs our city had to offer. I usually get a little nervous when I try a new spot in the suburbs, but Harvest Restaurant is a HIT!
My favorite courses on the menu were the Bacon-Wrapped Scallop and the Filet Mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection and every course was full of flavor and focus. Chef did an incredible job pairing the beers to each course, as well. I am not a big beer fan, but I enjoyed every pairing and I did not feel like the beer overpowered her phenomenal food.
I was told there will be more themed pairing dinners in the future, and I'm looking forward to coming back in for those.
Pheasant Run has recently come under new ownership and they are getting a lot of updates. The new Executive Chef at Harvest Restaurant is Tiffany Tooker, who won the Chef of the Year Award for her company 2 years ago. Along with a new Chef and menu, the entire resort has many exciting changes to look forward to in the future. If you haven't been to Pheasant Run in a couple years, come back.
